About SymbolMint

SymbolMint is a free library of Unicode symbols and a fancy text generator. It is built for the moment you need a star for a bio, an arrow for a caption or a styled name for a game: find it, tap it, paste it. There are no accounts and nothing to install.

Where the data comes from

Every symbol's official name, code point, block and the Unicode version that added it are taken from the Unicode Character Database, version 17.0.0, and emoji names come from Unicode's emoji data files. Both are published by the Unicode Consortium under the Unicode License V3. The meanings, usage notes and platform advice are written by SymbolMint.

The QR code generator uses the open-source qrcode encoder, released under the MIT licence; its licence text is in the third-party licences file.

How symbols are chosen

The library starts with the 253 symbols people most often look for: hearts, stars, arrows, check marks, currency and maths signs, and the borrowed letters and brackets behind cute and aesthetic text. Collections are put together by hand for each platform and style, with notes on the limits each platform sets for names and bios. The fancy text generator offers 30 styles made from Unicode characters, so the text works without any special font.

Privacy

Copying and text conversion happen in your browser. What you type is never sent to SymbolMint. The privacy page explains the analytics the site uses and what they record.
