Epic display name rules
Epic display names are 3 to 16 characters long and can be changed once every two weeks. Epic accepts letters from many writing systems, which is why names with ツ, 乂 or 彡 are common, but it usually refuses pure symbols such as ★ or ♥. If a name is refused, try one of the letters in the first row instead.
Why letters get through and symbols do not
ツ is a Japanese katakana letter, 乂 and 彡 are Chinese characters, and ᴀ and ʀ are small capitals from the phonetic alphabet. They count as letters, so name checks that refuse decorative symbols often let them through. The second row has symbols worth trying in chat and in party names, where the rules are looser.
Popular patterns
Most Fortnite names put one character on each side of the name or one at the end: ツ name, 乂 name 乂, name 彡. Keep it short, because every symbol uses one of your 16 characters, and make sure friends can still type your name to find you.
