Privacy policy

SymbolMint has no accounts, no sign-up forms and no comments, so it does not ask for your name, email address or any other personal details. This page explains the little that is collected and how to opt out.

Text you type stays on your device

The fancy text generator, the text image maker, the QR code generator and the search box run entirely in your browser. What you type, including Wi-Fi passwords and contact details for QR codes, is processed on your device and is never sent to SymbolMint, to our analytics or to anyone else. It is not saved either: when you leave the page, it is gone.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages and tools are used, so we know what to improve. It records the pages you view, the site that sent you, your browser, device type, screen size, language and an approximate location (country and city) derived from your IP address. Google Analytics 4 does not store IP addresses.

We also record a few events of our own: which symbol was copied, which fancy text style was copied, which code format was copied, which text image style and size was downloaded or copied, and which kind of QR code was downloaded, as PNG or SVG. These events contain only those names, never the text you typed, the words on an image or the content of a QR code. Analytics data is kept for 14 months and then deleted.

Google Analytics sets first-party cookies named _ga and _ga_* to tell visits apart; they last up to two years. Google processes this data as our service provider, and it may be handled in the United States. You can block these cookies in your browser settings or install Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The site works the same without them.

When the fancy text generator hands your text to the text image maker, it travels in the part of the web address after the # sign, which browsers never send to a server. The text image maker reads it and removes it from the address bar straight away, and the address reported to analytics never includes it.

Local storage

Your recently copied symbols are kept in your browser's local storage under the key symbolmint:recent, so the "Recently copied" row can show them. It holds at most 16 symbols from the library, never generator output, and it never leaves your device. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes it.

Advertising

SymbolMint plans to show ads from Google AdSense to cover its running costs. There are no ads on the site yet. Before ads are added, this page will be updated to describe the cookies they use, and visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland will be asked for consent before any advertising cookies are set.

Hosting

The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes the technical details of each request, including your IP address, to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. SymbolMint does not keep its own server logs.

Children

SymbolMint is a general audience site. Because it has no accounts or forms, it does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Your rights and contact

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what data is held about you and to have it deleted. Because SymbolMint does not know who you are, analytics data cannot usually be linked back to you, but we will help where we can. Write to admin@symbolmint.com with any question about this policy.
